At Honeys, we want your Beauty Works tape extensions to look and feel beautiful for as long as possible. Our team will show you how to care for your new hair in the salon, and this guide covers everything you need at home. If you ever feel unsure, we are here to help.

The first 48 hours
• Keep your hair dry.
• Avoid saunas, steam rooms and heavy workouts.
• Do not use oils or serums near the tape tabs.
This helps the adhesive set for a secure and comfortable hold.
Shampooing your hair
Shampoo two to three times per week. Brush gently before you step into the shower.
- Rinse with warm water.
- Apply a small amount of sulphate free shampoo to the scalp, then smooth the lather down the lengths. Do not rub or twist.
- Rinse thoroughly.
- Apply conditioner from mid lengths to ends only. Keep it away from the tape area.
- Rinse well so there is no residue left behind.
Tip
If you love a weekly mask, apply it from mid lengths to ends only and keep it clear of the tapes.
Drying
• Gently blot with a towel. Do not rough rub.
• Apply a heat protect spray on the mid lengths and ends.
• Blow dry the roots on a cool to medium setting until fully dry.
• Do not sleep with damp roots.
Brushing and detangling
• Support the roots with one hand. Brush with the other.
• Use an extension friendly brush.
• Start at the ends and work up in small sections.
• Brush morning and evening to prevent tangling and keep the blend smooth.
Styling and heat
• You can curl and straighten your extensions.
• Keep heat tools on a moderate setting.
• Always use heat protection.
• Avoid placing hot tools directly on the tape tabs.
Sleeping
• Brush before bed.
• Loosely plait or tie in a soft low pony.
• A silk or satin pillowcase helps reduce friction.
• Always go to bed with dry roots.
Swimming, holidays and the gym
• Before swimming, brush and tie hair in a loose plait.
• Rinse with clean water first, then shampoo and condition soon after.
• Try to keep sunscreen, body lotion and heavy oils away from the tape area. Oils can soften adhesive and cause slippage.
• After gym workouts, dry the roots fully.
Products to use and to avoid
Good
• Sulphate free shampoo and conditioner.
• Lightweight leave in conditioner or detangler on mid lengths and ends.
• Heat protect spray before styling.
Avoid
• Oils, serums and heavy masks near the tapes.
• Dry shampoo, root lifting powders and strong hold sprays on the tape area.
• Clarifying or deep cleansing shampoos at the roots.
Your maintenance and refit timeline
Most clients need a refit every six to eight weeks as natural hair growth moves the tapes away from the scalp. At your refit we remove the tapes gently, cleanse, add fresh tape and reapply for a seamless blend.
Signs you may need us sooner
• A tape feels loose or is slipping.
• You can see adhesive at the edge of a tab.
• You notice matting that does not brush out gently.
• You would like a quick lesson on brushing or styling between visits.
Quick checklist
• Brush morning and evening. Support the roots with your hand.
• Wash two to three times per week with sulphate free products.
• Condition from mid lengths to ends only.
• Dry roots fully after washing or exercise.
• Use heat protection for any hot tools.
• Book a refit every six to eight weeks.
